The Michael Jackson MOONWALK TRIBUTE Celebration

The death of Michael Jackson marked the end of an era. Fans across the world were deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden loss on JUNE 25th 2009. His music, messages of humanity, fashion flare and charisma had a universal appeal. We all connected to him. Call it human nature or the man in the mirror; Michael Joseph Jackson collectively brought us together, it doesn’t matter if you were black or white—We are the world.

Akona Ndungane with the help of Suede (Coming Soon Production) put together a 'Michael Jackson Mass MoonWalk' earlier today in Sandton to celebrate the world's most talented human being of our generation
The Event was hosted by 5fm’s Gareth Cliff, Yfm DJ and Vuzu.Tv Presenter-Siyabonga Ngwekazi, Talk Radio 702’s Aki Anastasiou , MTV’s Fikile Moeti and SABC’s Masetshsaba Lakalake and Tim, Tumi (Tumi & The Volume) also came through to show support and celebrate Michael Jackson
And performances by The Repertoires Dancer and DJ Kenzhero who wowed crowds with a Michael Jackson Medley, which took spectators on a musical journey of the King of Pops greatest Hits
.
In the spirit of the MOON WALK TRIBUTE, everyone was asked to Dress Michael Jackson Style; black shoes, and white socks are a must, glitter gloves was optional but i saw a couple of people rocking them

Akona, Suede and everyone who helped put the 'mass moonwalk' together, thank you for your efforts and making sure that the icon who inspired all of us in so many different ways through his music doesnt go unnoticed!..thanks for documenting history.

SA Celebrities to design gold for AuDITIONS

Musicians Loyiso Bala and Louise Carver, actor Carl Beukes and the glamour band Jamali, have signed up to design gold signature pieces for Urban Tribes, the latest AuDITIONS gold design competition. Their gold jewellery pieces will become part of the AuDITIONS Urban Tribes collection to be unveiled in October this year.

AngloGold Ashanti’s AuDITIONS, the world’s largest gold design competition, launched the South African 2009 /10 Urban Tribes season earlier this year and received more than 1000 entries from campuses and professional studios.
The trendy theme is supported by eight flamboyant urban characters from which the celebrities each selected one as a fictitious client. Loyiso was feeling the Hip Hop Homeboy and designed an Africa gold power-neckpiece, Egoli. Says Loyiso, “For inspiration I of course looked at Hip-hop culture and couldn’t get past the bling, but wanted to bring it home with some real Africa zing.”

Jamali’s trio Liesl, Jacqui and Mariechan got down with the Gold Digger and designed The Golden Rose. Their inspiration came from their most beloved personal jewellery which was interpreted into a design for their client the Gold Digger. The result is best described as ‘booty bling’.

The four celebrity pieces will be added to the 22 finalist jewellery pieces and accessories that are currently being manufactured to complete the Urban Tribes collection for 2009/10.

Levi's® Printslam and Oppikoppi get together to make an impact!!

Print design and music get together and make an impact once again. It’s called PrintSlam, an annual exhibition of silk screen and digital posters which takes place at the legendary Oppikoppi festival in Northam in August. This one’s big people – it’s still the only annual exhibition of its kind in South Africa; a great opportunity for our visual creatives to turn their doodling into design and capture the soul of Mzansi’s young aesthetics. So if you’ve got an eye, and want to share your vision with others, then make sure that you get your entries in by the 20th of July.

And it couldn’t be happening in a more historic year. OppiKoppi is turning 15, and to mark this rock ‘n rolling occasion, it’s being declared a National Heritage Monument. The festival has been listed as one of the 10 best in the world and iconic jeans brand Levi’s® has been part of the party for the past six years. All these numbers add up to a momentous event – a truly South African institution where music and culture are celebrated in red dust & denim at Northam.

So if you want to feature at this incredible festival, but you’re without a backing band, then don’t worry. Get busy with your pens, pencils, paintbrushes and PhotoShop, and make sure that you’re one of the 20 artists who will be selected to display their work at the exhibition. You’ll receive a free pair of tickets to PrintSlam and your work will be sold at the event. Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it.

But before you hit the canvas, take down these details:
All Prints must be signed and editioned (minimum 10 copies). Print sizes must be A2 or smaller for display space purposes.
Artists can send a couple of artworks
The artwork must be marked as “limited edition”.
There will be loads more information on the Facebook group – watch out for it.

Prints can be dropped off at:
A Look Away- BK Publishing
Pasiwa Office Park
Corner Schoeman & Gordon streets

Proverb Shoots 'I Know' Video

On Saturday Proverb shot a video for his second single 'I Know' which happens to be my favourite song from his latest offering 'Proverb Manuscript' which is available in stores nationwide

Seen here is Lala (remember her from the kiddies programmes CrazE?) well she's the main girl and from what i hear she's a professional (brings her own make up and wardrobe, i like a girl who takes charge coz you dont wanna be looking crazy coz some make up artist used the wrong make up or has given you wardrobe from the circus, way to go girl), she's doing her thing on this shot with the guy who produced of the song Ameen Harron, who flew from Cape Town to make his cameo

I know a lot of people have been wondering who the guy is that kills the hook on this song, well his name is Ferdy from R 'n B/Rap group Urban Rain. Watch out for them, was impressed with their performance the other day
And if that wasnt enough, Pro is on a video row, tomorrow he's shooting his first single 'Breadwinners' featuring HHP, if you a father and available tomorrow morning @ 10am, you and your kid should make your way to Maponya Mall for you cameo

Miznformed Fathers Day Edition

The Miznformed Fathers Edition is dedicated to three gentleman who changed the stereotypical black fathers image that had been engraved in my head for years, thank you gentleman for reinstating fatherhood and making consider this parent thing as I had erased any ambition of having a kid as I was afraid that my child would be fathered by a ‘dead beat’ but now I know that not every black father is irresponsible, selfish and careless. Because of you I know there’s hope for a lil Miznformed (LOL!)

Zwai Bala is popular known for being the one third of the legendary Kwaito group TKZee and father to son Sean. At first glance you would think that he’s a serious guy but when you get to know him you then you exposed to his humor, broad character and his architectural mind.Sean can only blossom into a better replica of him

Man, father, son, husband, poet, writer, social commentator, dreamer, media consultant, entrepreneur, on a quest to make sense of this reality, with words and that would be Kojo Baffoe father to Kwekhu.

Kojo embodies fatherhood in ways that will leave you in amazement, through his words he paints the picture and experiences (good and bad) of being responsible for a soul that he helped create.
I could go on an on but for you to understand what I mean please check out kojobaffoe.wordpress.com (I could never fully explain it)

Thomas Msengana previously known as ‘Bad Boy T’ till he was blessed with a son Sinako named after his late brother and daughter Neli. I’ve known him for years and seeing the transition from a party boy to a father has been priceless, he traded his bad boy Image for fatherhood. He makes me believe that a child truly makes you evolve into a better you..

I know you probably thinking, why did I choose these three fathers? well I’ve had the pleasure of seeing and witnessing these guys display love and respect for their offsprings. Thomas, Kojo and Zwai thank you and I’m proud of each of you. Hope every guy who gets to see this post is inspired and joins the ‘cool father gang’

One Love: Miznformed

P.S Amu you up next son, I know you going to be a great, fun and knowledgeable dad, happy father’s day in advance
